The Science fair

Asha's class of 7 & 8 year olds, had a little science fair.
Being my child, she was more interested in a craft project than science but she did decide she wanted to blow up a volcano and since I am the queen of paper mache, thank you blue peter, I figured she could try some different items that would fizz up and we'd go from there.
Thanks to google, how did we ever learn anything pre web days? I discovered that, mentos would explode a coke bottle and so she built her volcano around one and painted it. She also made a big display board, complete with blue sky, (not sure where she got the idea a sky is blue, we have only seen white clouds lately) and also a dinosaur. Thanks to Disney, my daughter thinks that every volcano has dinosaurs living in the midst.
She first tried to blow up cups but the liquid ahd to be in a bottle.

Anyway, she did great and loved it. She had a huge smile as she demoed her findings.
I actually learned allot that day
1) Parents need to back off and let the kids do the work, it was sad to see the obvious parent projects and then as the kids couldn't even tell you what they did they got all sad and embarrassed.
2) Parents create unnecessary stress and work for themselves.
3) the messier and smellier the better.
4) Parents can be disrespectful, as they chat and let their kids run riot around the room while a child is trying to talk about their work. Just saying.
5) you need large amounts of mentos as kids will help themselves as they walk by :)
6) 20oz soda is more expensive than 2 litre.

Lagoon

My sister in law took up clogging and as part of that fun , healthy activity, she was coerced into performing in a competition at Lagoon which, if not traumatic enough, was amplified in the stress zone by the fact that we all came to watch :) This was her second year and she really did great. I have to admit I am thankful that Asha has not chosen dance as her passion in life, as I'm not sure I could keep up with all the make up and hair pieces and false eyelashes on little ones, not to mention how unflattering metallic spandex is.
So with this fun comp came some discount tickets and since the weather was freezing and included a hail storm, we just stayed for a few rides but I got some pics and am happy to reveal that my kids are up for most of them.

What can I say, this kind of talent deserves a picture :)

Tooo Long.....

I know I know, it's been ages since I posted and some are wondering if we all died or at least if we all are sat at home doing nothing (ah now wouldn't that be nice for just a moment)
anyway, here's our last little while in a nutshell.

The kids got to go to the renaissance fair and we got to spend the day with people who like to dress up and fake being English. Did you know that during this era, the most dominant thing happening was people trying to sell you overpriced plastic swords? a cultural experience I was glad to only need to do once. Luckily, whilst jousting, one of the knights (who are actually world champions, it really is a pro sport here),took a good chunk of the long thingy to the shoulder and we saw blood and everything. SCORE!!

we took several trips to St.George in search of better weather. The kids love that we can swim, even at night. We are ready to move here if it snows one more day.

I did some prom hair and make up.

Before (she'd kill me for posting this)

After
don't anyone get any ideas, I only do this for my extremely good friends :)

Took a field trip to "this is the place" I really love this place and would like to spend time there without kids so I can actually listen and learn.

We continue our family night dinners despite the empty seat.
We miss Jordan so much but he he is doing good. Mostly staying positive and selling a little. He is learning so much from this experience that it is so worth while. His bed was only empty for a night as Asha has taken to sleeping there :) I hated to see it empty so I don't mind at all.

As for me, I am happier and healthier than ever, thanks to a mind/spirit/body program I have been working on now for 18 weeks. Those who have known me a while would think I was always happy and looked great but actually I felt the total opposite and was just really good at faking it. ( your shocked? I was good wasn't I?)

Anyway, Like I said, I am feeling great and would be happy to share with anyone willing to work hard for that peace. I had no idea how close I always was to being happy and healthy.

I'll try to be better at posting.
